AI Assistant Piloted in Moscow Region
A new AI-driven tool is being integrated into the regional medical app of Moscow Region, built on the Unified Medical Information and Analytical System (EMIAS). This solution is poised to transform how patients interact with the healthcare system. The assistant will analyze lab test results and identify abnormalities such as high cholesterol or blood sugar.
Instead of dense medical terminology, users will receive clear, supportive guidance—such as dietary adjustments, exercise suggestions, or advice to schedule a doctor’s visit. The goal is to make digital medicine accessible and understandable for all, regardless of age or health literacy.
According to the developers, the initial rollout could reduce the need for up to 1 million in-person appointments, allowing physicians to focus on complex cases and reducing wait times.

The Moscow Region initiative continues this trajectory, bridging the gap between imaging-based diagnostics and lab result interpretation. Instead of waiting for a clinic callback, patients receive recommendations instantly. It’s a new approach where AI complements, rather than replaces, clinical expertise.
A Future Built on Domestic Innovation
The AI health assistant is more than just a convenient tool—it’s a strategic project aligned with Russia’s digital and healthcare goals. Once validated for accuracy and reliability, the system may be licensed for use in other regions of Russia, and eventually abroad—especially in CIS markets.
Domestically, the platform has vast potential. Upcoming integrations include telemedicine services, expanded diagnostics like ECG interpretation, and chronic disease tracking. The technology could serve as a foundation for intelligent systems across regions, including the Russian Far East and Arctic territories.
Given current development speeds, AI assistants are expected to be in widespread use across Russia within 2–3 years, and within five years, they could be embedded throughout the healthcare system—from diagnostics to predictive analytics and personalized care.
Digital transformation is not limited to healthcare. Projects under the National Digital Economy program have already generated more than 1 trillion rubles in economic value—and this is just the beginning.
