How New Technologies Are Transforming Charity Work in Russia

Modern digital tools are helping nonprofits find people faster, automate operations, and deliver targeted assistance

Digital Tools That Accelerate Social Good

In Moscow, experts and volunteers from major nonprofit organizations gathered at the “Technologies of Good” forum to discuss how modern digital tools enhance the efficiency of the charity sector. According to participants, specialized IT solutions help automate routine tasks, speed up internal workflows, and improve the overall effectiveness of nonprofit operations.

Platforms like “Technologies of Good” play a key role by uniting government, businesses, and charitable foundations. The platform functions as a marketplace where nonprofits can find service donors and technology partners. Over the past three years, more than 2,000 nonprofit organizations and 30 partners have registered. The platform now offers more than 40 digital products and services tailored to the needs of NGOs.

Most In‑Demand Digital Services

Some of the most sought‑after offerings include free online acquiring from Sovcombank, Kaspersky Lab’s antivirus solutions, and media monitoring services. Technical support from MCORE is also highly popular: 3,000 self‑employed specialists across Russia provide free equipment repairs and software installation for nonprofit organizations.

Tools for Offices, Coordination, and Communication

Technology giants are supporting nonprofits as well. For example, the Konstantin Khabensky Foundation uses VK WorkSpace to manage internal operations, while LizaAlert relies on VK Cloud’s mapping services to coordinate volunteer search teams.

Another critical task for nonprofits is managing social‑media presence. Here, the scheduled‑posting service SMMplanner plays a major role.

“For the LizaAlert team, it’s essential to quickly distribute missing‑person alerts across many public pages. Our service allows scheduled posting, and neural networks help adapt the content for different platforms,” explained Vasily Krylov, the service’s founder.

Today, technology directly influences the efficiency of charitable work — just as it does in every other social sector.
