MTS Launches AI Agent That Streamlines Massive Data Processing for Enterprises

A new Russian-developed AI tool promises to save millions and speed up data workflows across entire industries.
From Hours to Minutes: MWS Data Scout Debuts
MTS Web Services has introduced one of the country’s first autonomous data processing tools: MWS Data Scout. This AI-driven agent analyzes large databases, summarizes their content, and identifies relationships across datasets. It’s part of the broader MWS Data platform.
According to MTS, the tool speeds up the data description process by a factor of 10, potentially saving tens of millions of rubles on manual analytics. With the enterprise data automation market valued at over 3.5 billion rubles, MTS has positioned itself at the forefront.

Plug-and-Play Flexibility
The system is designed for flexibility. It can connect to databases in the cloud or behind an enterprise firewall. It also integrates with major data catalogs, including DataHub and OpenMetadata.
The AI agent works in several stages. First, it reviews basic metadata—table and column names—and accesses resources like Confluence to gather additional context. It then identifies critical data repositories and produces a structured summary of tables and inter-table relationships. These are exported directly into a company’s data catalog.
Next Steps: Anomaly Detection and Industry Integration
Future versions of the agent will feature anomaly detection, flagging sudden data spikes or irregularities that could signal security incidents or system failures.
The potential for this technology is vast. Industries such as telecom, banking, and manufacturing face major challenges in managing data inventories. MWS Data Scout offers a cost-effective, scalable way to automate this work.

Years in the Making
Although MWS Data Scout is the first of its kind in Russia, it builds on years of domestic innovation. In 2019, Yandex released DataLens, a cloud-based analytics and visualization service. In 2023, Sber launched its BI Navigator platform, streamlining data access and dashboarding.
That same year, DataCatalog released Arenadata Catalog, aimed at centralizing enterprise data workflows. These tools laid the groundwork for the latest generation of AI-driven data infrastructure.

Positioning for Global Reach
While MTS’s new tool is currently aimed at Russian enterprises, it has clear international potential. Countries in the CIS and BRICS regions face similar challenges in scaling data operations. MWS Data Scout’s simplicity and adaptability make it a compelling candidate for export.
Despite operating under severe sanctions and limited access to foreign hardware and software, Russian developers continue to demonstrate strong momentum in the global tech race. MTS’s latest release reinforces this trajectory.
