Quantum Business: Rosatom Launches the Third Cycle of Its Quantum Accelerator

Rosatom’s Innohub has launched the third cycle of its Quantum Accelerator program, bringing together 20 leading development teams from companies and research institutions to create applied solutions for the Russian economy.

Quantum Technologies Enter the Market

The defining feature of the accelerator’s third cycle is its applied focus. The program’s themes include quantum neural computing systems, material modeling for power sources, software for solving quantum chemistry problems on quantum computers, and decision-support systems based on quantum algorithms.

Participants represent Bauman Moscow State Technical University, the Prokhorov General Physics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Tomsk State University, Dostoevsky Omsk State University, and several technology companies, including QDeep LLC, Tomus, New Spintronic Technologies, and NPP Volga. Out of 47 applicants, 20 teams were selected to take part.

Developing Quantum Business Models

Over the next two months, participants will undergo an intensive program that includes hypothesis testing, financial modeling, customer acquisition, and contract development.

Financial consultants will assist teams in building solid business plans, while Rosatom experts will work closely with participants to refine technical precision and optimize solutions. In December, teams will present their results at the program’s final demonstration day.

“The main goal of the accelerator is to create conditions for commercialization and support quantum computing startups. Teams will gain access to Rosatom’s expertise and infrastructure, including quantum research facilities and direct connections with potential customers from the Quantum Computing Roadmap and related industries. Participants will also have opportunities to scale their projects, attract investment, and establish joint ventures with other market players.”

The accelerator’s primary objective is to foster commercialization and support quantum computing startups, giving them access to scale their developments, attract investment, and form joint ventures with other market players.

Results of Previous Cycles

The first two accelerator cycles, completed in 2024, proved highly effective. They involved 20 projects from commercial organizations and academic institutions. Ten of these projects were recommended for inclusion in Russia’s national Quantum Computing Roadmap for 2025–2030, while nine teams were designated as potential hardware suppliers. Seven teams began joint research and development with industry partners, one team was fully integrated into Rosatom’s ecosystem, and two projects are now being co-developed with the corporation.

The accelerator operates as a business incubator, bridging the gap between research and the commercial quantum technology market.

Russia Among the Quantum Leaders

Rosatom’s Quantum Accelerator operates within the framework of Russia’s government-approved Quantum Computing Roadmap. Russia now ranks among the global top three — alongside the United States and China — to have developed quantum computers across all four major platforms: superconducting circuits, trapped ions, neutral atoms, and photons.

In 2025, Russia tested several 50-qubit quantum computers, achieving performance comparable to leading global systems. The roadmap’s implementation has resulted in the creation of a unique research community uniting more than 1,000 experts, including about 600 scientists. A nationwide quantum education system is also taking shape, spanning secondary schools, universities, and teacher retraining programs.

The next phase of the quantum project, running through 2030, will focus on industrial applications — bringing quantum computing from research labs to real-world manufacturing and energy systems. Startups emerging from the accelerator are expected to play a key role, positioning themselves as pioneers in applying quantum technologies to practical challenges.
