Russian Shipyard Deploys AI to Automate Paperwork

At one of Russia’s biggest shipbuilding plants, a homegrown neural network is cutting down paperwork time and freeing workers from routine tasks.
'Severnaya Verf', a major shipyard in St. Petersburg, has introduced a proprietary corporate AI system designed to handle documents and streamline daily operations. The in-house neural network isn’t just a digital filing assistant—it automates contracts, business correspondence, and reports, while also extracting key data from large volumes of text.
Engineers at the plant stress that the system was developed with cybersecurity in mind: it’s configured to prevent leaks of sensitive information. Employees across departments are already learning how to use the tool, with the shipyard rolling out a dedicated video course for training.
The company plans to expand its digital toolkit by creating specialized AI assistants tailored to corporate data management and technical support. The move reflects a broader shift in Russian industry toward embedding artificial intelligence into legacy sectors once considered far from digital transformation.
