Russia’s Gas Transport Enterprises Shift to Digital Technologies

Mosgaz specialists have built and modernized 191 gas‑regulation stations with full automation and remote control as digital transformation accelerates across Russia’s utility sector

Digital Transformation at Scale

Across Russia, utility companies are rapidly adopting digital technologies. One of the industry’s largest players, Mosgaz, has developed its own suite of software tools to modernize and automate core technological processes. The company has established a full production cycle for gas‑distribution equipment and heat‑supply systems, introduced microtunneling for pipeline crossings, and maintains exceptionally high industrial‑safety standards.

Digital passports created for each gas‑supplied building help analyze equipment conditions and mitigate identified risks. Employees use tablets to quickly upload information into the system, while proprietary software detects and processes violations.

A Virtual Museum and Gamified Chronicle

To celebrate its 160th anniversary, Mosgaz launched a virtual museum that chronicles the evolution of Russia’s gas‑transport industry and the people behind it.

A gamified chronograph showcases key milestones in the sector’s development. The exhibition itself is presented as an interactive map featuring schematic depictions of early gas holders, Mosgaz’s central office, historic gas lanterns, residential buildings, the Eternal Flame memorial, and sections of the underground gas pipeline.
