3D Models of Rare Animals Appear on Russia’s Digital Map
To mark World Animal Day, Yandex Maps has introduced 3D figures of rare Russian species, each linked to conservation facts and charitable foundations that protect them.

Fifteen rare animals have been added to Russia’s digital map, with their 3D models placed in the regions where they naturally live. The lineup includes the polar bear, reindeer, Amur tiger, Pallas’s cat, bottlenose dolphin, West Caucasian tur, Putorana snow sheep, European bison, sable, Steller sea lion, Russian desman, Przewalski’s horse, snow leopard, Baikal seal, and brown bear.
Users can find the animals by zooming into habitats such as reserves in Primorsky, Zabaykalsky, and Krasnoyarsk regions, as well as the coasts of Lake Baikal and Sakhalin. By clicking on a model in Yandex Maps, visitors see a profile with descriptions, fun facts, and photographs. These cards also contain links to conservation charities, including Lake Baikal, Nature and People, and Revival of Nature.
To view the models on the web, users simply press the 3D button, while in the mobile app, they swipe up with two fingers.
