AI Boosts Agricultural Yields Across Russian Regions

Seventeen AI-powered systems have been introduced in Tatarstan’s agricultural sector, helping farmers improve milk quality, fight pests, and increase profits.

The rollout of artificial intelligence in farming is already reshaping Russia’s agro-industrial sector. In Tatarstan, 17 AI-based systems are now in operation across livestock and crop production. They allow farmers to monitor animal health, control product quality, and plan fieldwork more efficiently, setting a new standard for the country’s agriculture.

In dairy farming, AI supervises the milking process, flagging any violations to safeguard cow health and milk quality. Automated milk yield accounting consolidates data from each cow into a unified system, enabling early detection of issues and adjustment of diets.

In crop production, neural networks analyze images from drones and satellites to spot infestations of weeds and pests. This enables targeted application of fertilizers and protective agents, saving up to 15% of resources. Algorithms also design optimal crop rotation plans, boosting farm profitability.

On farms where AI controls the milking process, veterinary costs have been cut in half, while overall milk output has increased by about 10%. Better milk grades and fewer defects translate directly into higher revenues for farmers.

Experts say demand for advanced agricultural solutions continues to grow, fueling the rise of specialized consulting. In response, a hands-on training program on AI use in farming is planned in Tatarstan by the end of 2025.
