AI-Driven Analytics to Boost Gold Mining Efficiency in Russia
Russia’s largest gold producer, Polyus, is teaming up with Sber to bring cutting-edge digital tools into one of the country’s most resource-intensive industries.
Polyus and Sber have launched a new stage of digital modernization that spans four areas: the introduction of large language models (LLMs) and machine learning, the development of digital literacy among employees, and IT optimization of all processes. To achieve this, the partners will conduct joint research, run pilot projects, and design applied scenarios powered by LLMs. Ultimately, the effort aims to streamline business processes and increase gold production.
Sber emphasized that its technology has significant potential for industrial integration. The digital overhaul is seen as critical not only for Polyus but also for Russia’s entire mining sector.
Russian scientists are also making strides in this field. Recently, they developed an innovative gold deposit analysis system that can identify high-concentration zones with up to 90 percent accuracy.
