AI-Driven Cameras in Russian Trucks Help Cut Road Accidents
Smart cameras installed inside truck cabins are analyzing driver behavior and road conditions to make long-haul logistics safer and more efficient.
Artificial intelligence is taking the driver’s seat in Russia’s logistics industry. The Tyumen-based company SibBurMash has introduced an AI-powered video analytics system that monitors both drivers and vehicles in real time. The cameras, mounted inside truck cabins, track road position, speed, sharp maneuvers, and even the driver’s physical condition — all in an effort to reduce accidents and encourage safer driving.
A New Culture of Driving
Using computer vision algorithms, the system detects facial expressions, posture, and early signs of fatigue or drowsiness. When it senses danger, it immediately issues an audio alert. Drivers who consistently follow safety protocols are rewarded, helping to foster a new culture of responsibility behind the wheel.
According to Anastasia Mikhaylova, Director of MTS in the Tyumen region, after the introduction of AI monitoring, the number of risky driving incidents dropped by 84%. “This proves that artificial intelligence is not just about automation — it’s a real investment in human life and cargo safety,” she added.
AI-driven monitoring systems are now seen as one of the most promising directions in transportation technology, combining analytics, safety, and digital culture to reshape how logistics companies operate in Russia.
