AI Helps Russian Man Find Lost Dog in Just Five Minutes

Using a government services portal, artificial intelligence matched a photo and reunited an owner with his missing pet almost instantly.

Artificial intelligence proved to be a lifesaver for one resident of the Moscow region when his dog, Bulka, bolted during a walk after being startled by loud noises. Instead of panicking, he turned to Russia’s state digital platform, Gosuslugi.

Through the site’s “Lost Pet” section, the owner uploaded a photo and launched an image-based search. Within five to ten minutes, the system processed the request and notified him that Bulka had been found. The dog was unharmed and quickly returned home.

The platform also supports the reverse process—posting reports of animals that have been found, helping reunite strays with their owners.

Beyond pet recovery, AI is reshaping veterinary care in Russia. A specialized neural network is being used to analyze treatment databases, generating recommendations on medication and therapy options tailored to an animal’s medical history. Experts say the technology could improve preventative care and keep pets healthier for longer.
