AI in Russian Schools: Nearly Every Student in One Region Uses It

Artificial intelligence has become a daily classroom tool for teachers and students across Russia, with one region reporting nearly universal adoption.

Artificial intelligence is no longer just an experiment in Russian education—it is becoming the norm. At a recent teachers’ forum near Moscow, officials and tech leaders described how AI tools are reshaping both teaching and learning.

According to Herman Gref, CEO of Sberbank, about 30 percent of teachers and 80 percent of students in Russia already use neural networks in their schoolwork. In the Moscow region, Gref added, nearly every student has access to AI-powered technologies.

German Gref noted: "Teachers are actively using innovative solutions to prepare for classes and automate routine operations. Neural networks assist in creating presentation materials, developing tests and quizzes, and in forming the structure of lessons. Students, in turn, complete homework with the help of several algorithms."
Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov emphasized: "Artificial intelligence is the most important tool for solving many problems, and the education system must teach schoolchildren how to use it correctly."

The rapid spread of AI in Russia’s education system signals more than just technological adoption—it shows how deeply AI is embedding itself into the everyday lives of the next generation.
