AI Increases Road Capacity in Salekhard by 25%
The city has deployed an adaptive traffic management system.
Rostelecom and the Salekhard city administration have announced the results of a transportation infrastructure upgrade. An adaptive traffic signal control system has been deployed at 23 intersections. The algorithm calculates signal timing and creates so-called "green waves" during peak hours. As a result, road capacity increased by 25% over a short period.
Data collected from installed traffic cameras is transmitted to the municipal traffic management center. Its specialists monitor conditions at intersections. When congestion or traffic accidents occur, the artificial intelligence system automatically adjusts traffic signal cycles to redirect vehicle flows to less congested streets.
