Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly common across Russia’s nuclear sector. AI-based technologies are now used in roughly 20% of industry projects, including tasks related to monitoring protective equipment, according to Andrey Lavrov, CEO of Greenatom.

“The advantage of AI is that it works around the clock. It does not need sleep or breaks. But for now, the primary role of artificial intelligence is still that of an assistant. It handles routine operations, offers suggestions, and provides a second opinion, but it does not make decisions for you,” Lavrov said.

Lavrov added that AI cannot replace humans and should be treated strictly as a support tool. He said effective use of AI requires a highly critical approach, including clearly formulated tasks and careful verification of results produced by the system.
