From faster diagnostics to customized vaccines, artificial intelligence is helping Russian doctors fight cancer with unprecedented precision.

Russia is deploying artificial intelligence (AI) to improve cancer care, using high-tech diagnostics and personalized treatments that ease the burden on physicians and improve early detection rates.

According to 'Parlamentskaya Gazeta,' the integration of AI and custom-made cancer vaccines is already transforming how patients are diagnosed and treated. These tools help detect the disease in its earliest stages while reducing the time required to tailor therapy.

Dr. Vsevolod Belousov, head of the Federal Center for Brain and Neurotechnologies, noted that cancer care is moving toward individualization: 'In the past, patients received standard treatments. Now, thanks to sequencing and mass spectrometry, we can study each tumor in detail and prescribe drugs that work best for that specific patient.'

One key innovation is early detection. While routine screenings still rely on basic tests, the plan is to expand these using AI-powered analysis of biomarker combinations. This would allow doctors to assess cancer risks even before symptoms appear.

Another breakthrough is the development of therapeutic cancer vaccines. These are tailored to the unique molecular profile of a patient's tumor and help train the immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells, particularly to prevent post-surgical relapse.

AI is also streamlining the workload for doctors. By automating data analysis, the technology accelerates diagnosis and reduces the need for trial-and-error chemotherapy. This frees up time for medical staff to focus more directly on patient care.

Experts believe these tools will make cancer care in Russia more effective and accessible, positioning the country as a global leader in tackling a disease that affects millions worldwide.
