AI Joins Russia’s Emergency Medical Services
Russian cities are piloting artificial intelligence tools in ambulances to speed up diagnoses and reduce errors, with a special focus on real-time ECG analysis.

Emergency medical teams from seven Russian cities with populations over a million—Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, Perm, Ufa, Ulyanovsk, and Kazan—met to discuss how to improve urgent care for patients. According to doctors, integrating AI into ambulance services will allow medics to act faster and with greater precision.
One of the standout solutions presented was automated ECG analysis powered by AI. This system will help physicians deliver quicker diagnoses while minimizing the risk of errors when interpreting cardiogram data.
The AI tools will be integrated into a unified cardiology subsystem. An electrocardiogram recorded inside an ambulance will be transmitted directly to a central hub, where on-duty cardiologists will rapidly decode the results and send their conclusions back to the emergency crew.
