Three cameras are already operating around the clock in the settlements of Sharomy, Atlasovo, and Kozyrevsk. Mounted on cellular towers at a height of about 30 meters, they provide 360-degree coverage within a radius of 15 kilometers.

"The cameras are equipped with artificial intelligence that can automatically detect smoke, estimate its distance, and transmit coordinates to the regional forestry dispatch service," said Vyacheslav Pishchalchenko, the region's minister of forestry and hunting.

The system can distinguish among different sources of smoke, helping authorities identify potential threats at an early stage.

Officials plan to expand the network to 12 cameras. Nine additional units are scheduled for installation in the Yelizovsky, Milkovsky, and Ust-Kamchatsky districts.
