AI-Powered ‘Vibe Coding’ Gains Momentum in Russia

Russia’s IT sector is rapidly adopting vibe coding—AI-generated code that allows developers to describe tasks in plain language and receive ready-made solutions—reshaping workflows for both seasoned engineers and beginners.

Russia’s tech industry is embracing vibe coding, the practice of generating digital code using artificial intelligence. In this approach, a developer describes a task to the AI system, which then produces ready-to-use code. The largest number of such job openings is concentrated in Moscow and St. Petersburg. On average, specialists in this field are offered salaries of around 140,000 rubles (about 1,740 USD) per month.

Roughly 81% of developers already use AI assistants in their daily work, while 90% of engineering teams have incorporated these tools into their processes. Neural networks excel at generating templates, modifying internal processes in systems, and identifying errors.

For experienced professionals, vibe coding helps automate routine operations, freeing time for more creative aspects of work. For newcomers, it offers a quick way to create practical digital products.

Experts caution, however, that while the technology accelerates development and lowers the barrier to entry, it also brings potential downsides. The expansion of AI in coding makes the industry more accessible to beginners, but may also alter the balance of expertise within teams.
