AI Steps In to Help Veterinarians in Russia

Leningrad Region is among the first in the country to adopt artificial intelligence for animal tracking and data analysis, reshaping veterinary practice.

In Leningrad Region, the state veterinary service has begun integrating AI to digitally transform its operations. The collaboration with IT companies was announced at the 20th Baltic Veterinary Forum in St. Petersburg. The new technology is designed to automate routine processes, improve data analysis, and support veterinarians in decision-making. The pilot project is significant not only for Russia but also for global veterinary practice. Successfully deploying AI in socially critical areas such as animal health monitoring and food safety could serve as a model for other regions and countries.

According to Leonid Krotov, head of the Leningrad Region’s veterinary department, digital systems are already being used for automated animal surveillance, reports Online47. AI identifies and systematizes data, and in the future will be able to analyze information, optimize veterinarians’ work, and build forecasts to prevent disease outbreaks. This minimizes errors linked to human factors.

It is a clear example of how advanced technology frees doctors from paperwork, allowing them to focus on treatment.
