Artificial Intelligence in Russia Helps People Avoid “Digital Traps”

In 2025, Russian IT developers adapted AI to protect users from digital fraud.

AI is helping identify phishing websites and suspicious calls before a person has time to fall into a trap. As Alexander Lunev, head of Yandex’s information security training group, explained, modern browsers use built-in AI algorithms to instantly check websites. The system quickly analyzes a wide range of parameters. The artificial intelligence looks at domain reputation, page structure, data entry forms, and dozens of other indicators. This takes fractions of a second. If a resource appears dangerous, the user immediately sees a warning.

“The system evaluates dozens of parameters and signals risk in advance. This helps people avoid acting on emotion,” Lunev noted.

Of course, not everyone remains clear-headed when confronted with such warnings while under emotional pressure, but for most users the alert alone is enough.

Making Phone Calls Safer Again

AI is also widely used to protect against phone scams. Algorithms analyze phone numbers, call frequency and timing, as well as complaints from other users. As a result, a label such as “likely scam” appears on the screen, something many users have already encountered, allowing them to decide calmly whether to answer the call.

According to the expert, the end of the year traditionally marks a peak period for attacks. Scammers create fake websites advertising large discounts, send messages posing as delivery services, and call under the pretext of urgent problems.

“The goal of scammers is to trigger panic or excitement. That is why it is important to trust system warnings and not ignore the signals,” Lunev emphasized.

Staying Alert at All Times

Developers are constantly updating their AI models. New versions of browsers and applications are trained on the latest fraud schemes. This makes it possible to detect threats more quickly and reduce the number of successful attacks. Digital protection is becoming part of everyday life, and technologies developed by Russian IT teams are helping people feel more confident online.
