Artificial Intelligence Monitors the Condition of Urban Parks Across Russia

Artificial Intelligence Monitors the Condition of Urban Parks in Russia

Public Safety Through Real-Time Analytics

Russia’s Tula Region is testing an AI‑powered video analytics system designed to keep public spaces safer and cleaner. A neural network developed by the Russian company NtechLab processes live video streams from 40 city cameras installed in parks, streets, and residential courtyards across Tula.

The algorithm primarily detects violations — smoking in restricted areas, illegal dog walking, and scooter riders ignoring traffic rules. In one case, at Levsha Park on the outskirts of the city, the system even spotted a fox.

Wildlife Alerts and Public Protection

Wild animals rarely appear in urban areas, and foxes can pose a danger to pets and even humans. By flagging the unexpected visitor, the neural network demonstrated both its utility and the precision of its detection algorithms.

Smart video monitoring is rapidly expanding across Russia. This year, an autonomous mobile complex capable of identifying up to 50 types of municipal violations began operating in the town of Nadym. Similar systems are now being deployed in most major cities. Moscow leads the trend: its photo‑ and video‑monitoring network detects 64 categories of violations, with all data processed through neural networks. Cameras even assist in locating stolen vehicles.

These technologies are fundamentally transforming how public order is maintained.
