The number of autonomous trucks operating along the M-12 Vostok highway between Moscow and Kazan has reached 111, according to Russian Deputy Transport Minister Dmitry Zverev.

“It was noted earlier today that our goal for 2026 was to surpass 100 trucks operating daily on the Moscow-Kazan route. We have already reached 111 and exceeded that target,” Zverev said.

The announcement follows broader plans by Russia’s Transport Ministry to expand the use of autonomous freight vehicles on the country’s roads. By 2035, officials expect the number of self-driving trucks in operation to reach approximately 57,000. Such vehicles are projected to account for up to 19% of all road freight transportation.

At the beginning of 2026, more than 95 autonomous trucks were operating on Russia’s highways. Collectively, they had logged more than 14.5 million kilometers of accident-free driving.
