Caller ID to Warn Russians About Dangerous Calls
Mobile operators have found a way to protect users from scammers who trick people into calling back.
A new security feature has been added to the caller ID built into the Yandex with Alice AI app and the mobile version of Yandex Browser, the company’s press service said.
Because Yandex’s caller ID already blocks incoming calls from scammers automatically, fraudsters often try a different tactic by forcing people to call them back. The new feature now also works for outgoing calls: users will see a warning if they attempt to dial a number associated with fraudulent activity.
Neural Networks on Guard
Neural networks help the caller ID identify scam numbers. The algorithms analyze more than 300 behavioral signals, including call frequency, whether a number appears in users’ contact lists, call duration, and user complaints. All data remain anonymous, as the AI processes only de-identified information.
If the AI flags a number as fraudulent, the user will see an on-screen warning when trying to call it. This allows the call to be canceled before a scammer joins the conversation.
