Digital Twin Predicts Parking Demand Before Construction Begins
Researchers have developed a digital twin system that can forecast how heavily a parking facility will be used while it is still in the design stage.

Researchers at Perm National Research Polytechnic University have developed a system that creates a digital twin of a parking facility, enabling planners to predict future occupancy before construction begins. Rather than relying on generalized regulatory benchmarks, the system accounts for local transportation patterns and the specific characteristics of each location.
To develop the system, the researchers conducted long-term observations at 35 representative sites, including shopping centers, office buildings, and residential complexes. The study provided detailed data on how parking demand changes with the season, the day of the week, and the time of day.
