Expert Foresees a Decade of Advanced Neural‑Network Capabilities in Russia

AI systems that today seem like far‑fetched science fiction will become reality in Russia over the next ten years, according to Rosatom IT expert Valentin Chubarov

Projected AI Capabilities

Valentin Chubarov, an IT specialist at state nuclear corporation Rosatom, asserts that Russian neural networks will master functions within the coming decade that currently appear unattainable. Drawing on Rosatom’s in‑house experiments, he emphasizes that success hinges less on purely algorithmic sophistication and more on the expertise of the teams “parenting” these systems. Chubarov points out that with the right guidance, neural networks can exceed expectations, effectively turning today’s speculative ideas into tomorrow’s operational tools.

Autonomous Collaboration and Continuous Learning

“One system is more than willing to ‘chat’ with another AI or information resource to refine its own knowledge,” explains Chubarov, conveying his confidence in neural networks’ emerging social‑learning skills. He predicts that AI agents will soon autonomously seek out expert mentors—whether human or machine—to accelerate their own development. This self‑driven approach could dramatically shorten training cycles and enable decentralized networks of AI specialists that continually upgrade their own capabilities.

Integrating AI into Industry‑Critical Processes

Rosatom is already embedding advanced AI into its hardware‑software stack, with the primary goal of teaching neural networks to understand and simulate complex technological processes. In Russia, this targeted effort has yielded a new class of virtual assistants capable of expert‑level decision making in fields such as reactor monitoring, predictive maintenance and safety analysis. By deploying AI experts alongside human engineers, Rosatom not only boosts operational efficiency and reduces downtime but also sets a global benchmark for how state entities can harness artificial intelligence to strengthen nuclear infrastructure.
