Gov Services Portal to Add Button for Reporting False VPN Warnings
Russia’s Ministry of Digital Development plans to add a button to the Gosuslugi (public services portal) that lets users report erroneous warnings about VPN use.
“A special button will soon appear on Gosuslugi allowing users to report prompts to ‘Disable VPN’ when it is not actually in use,” the ministry said via the Max messenger.
The agency also explained why many Russian digital services restrict access for users with active VPN connections. According to the ministry, the measure is intended to protect personal data, as malicious actors could intercept information entered on websites through VPN connections.
Earlier, Roskomnadzor clarified that corporate use of VPNs in Russia is not restricted. Employees are allowed to connect to foreign resources through such services for work purposes.
