Gubkin University Unveils Cutting-Edge IT Solutions for the Energy Industry

Russia’s extractive industry is rapidly adopting advanced digital solutions, and the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas is at the forefront of this shift. At the 14th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum, the university will showcase homegrown IT developments designed for production and refining.

The university’s Gubkin Digital Center will present a lineup of unique technologies aimed at workforce training and sector digitalization. Among the highlights are 3D simulators for practicing offshore platform operations and controlling heavy underwater machinery, as well as a VR training system for piloting drones used in pipeline monitoring. The exhibition will also feature a robotic platform for training machine vision systems.

The centerpiece will be a model of a mobile unit for stabilizing oil and condensates using a new low-temperature stabilization method powered by controlled cavitation fields.

These projects demonstrate how Russia’s energy sector is rapidly integrating AI and digital technologies. Recently, researchers in the country developed a resource-saving production technique using artificial intelligence and began employing neural networks to study oil wells.
