Half of Russian IT Companies Are Now Using Generative AI

A new study reveals that generative artificial intelligence is reshaping how Russian IT companies design products, interact with clients, and run their operations.

Generative artificial intelligence is rapidly gaining traction across Russia’s IT sector. A recent survey on AI maturity, conducted by Sber, found that 40 percent of domestic IT companies have already implemented AI-driven projects.

AI in the Core of Business

“AI technologies are being integrated into the most essential processes—from product development to customer interaction,” said Dmitry Trofimov, Managing Director of Sber’s Creative Business Development Department. “Companies are moving beyond experimentation; they are embedding AI into their long-term strategies and building dedicated teams to support deployment.”

Smarter, Faster, More Efficient

The most common AI applications include intelligent assistants, chatbots, and generative models for producing text and images—used by up to 59 percent of respondents. Half of organizations employ document recognition systems. The survey also revealed that 70 percent of companies have been working with AI technologies for the past one to three years, and nearly half have established dedicated AI departments or competence centers.

Transforming the IT Landscape

The benefits are already visible: almost half of the specialists surveyed report faster workflows and improved overall efficiency. According to Trofimov, “this trend will only accelerate, unlocking new opportunities to transform the entire IT business landscape.”
