Heavy Agricultural Drones Used to Fertilize Crops in Yakutia for the First Time

Heavy agricultural drones have been used for the first time in Yakutia to apply fertilizer to forage crops. The pilot project was launched in the village of Myryla at the Ergis cooperative. The drones were used to treat 72 hectares of farmland.
The project uses eight drones for three types of work: two for surveying, two for crop monitoring and four for fertilizer application.
To assess crop conditions, specialists conducted multispectral imaging using two drones from Arctic State Agrotechnological University.
“Next year, we plan to expand the planted area to 300 hectares and begin using three types of crop protection products in addition to liquid fertilizers. We plan to use five agricultural drones and five drones for multispectral monitoring. I am confident that technologies like these are the future of our agriculture, especially in conditions like those in Yakutia,” said Viktor Petrov, head of the Ergis cooperative.
