IT Majors Gain Popularity in Russian Colleges
Enrollment in IT-related programs in Moscow colleges has risen nearly 10% compared to 2024, with students diving into fields ranging from programming and cybersecurity to quantum communications and virtual reality.
This year, about 7,700 students enrolled in Moscow colleges, according to Mayor Sergey Sobyanin. The most popular choice among applicants was “Information Systems and Programming.” Several new programs also launched, including computer game development, quantum communications, and augmented and virtual reality technologies. In total, 12 specialties are now available, spanning software and web development, information security, systems support, and network installation.
To strengthen practical skills, colleges are introducing high-tech labs and cyber ranges. Instructors are also incorporating artificial intelligence into the curriculum. Close partnerships with leading city enterprises help students immerse themselves in the profession from their very first year.
