Kachkanarsky Mining and Processing Plant Moves Dump Truck Maintenance Planning to Digital System
The new system now covers 57 trucks.
The Kachkanarsky Mining and Processing Plant has introduced automated maintenance planning for its fleet of mining equipment. The system currently covers 57 BelAZ trucks and can generate maintenance schedules accurate to the day.
The algorithms can independently prioritize upcoming maintenance based on the criticality of individual components and requirements for keeping trucks in operation. The system not only determines when maintenance should take place but also generates a list of the parts needed for the work.
The company says precision is critical when maintaining mining equipment because the work is carried out directly in the open pit. Crews, tools and spare parts therefore need to be delivered to each truck in advance. Planning errors can cause trucks to operate beyond their scheduled maintenance intervals, leave crews idle and disrupt supplies.
