In Russia’s Kirov region, a dedicated hotline has gone live to respond more quickly to complaints about snow and ice buildup in courtyards and on rooftops. The line was created by the regional State Housing Inspectorate. An AI-powered assistant logs every call from residents and forwards the information to the appropriate services, according to MK-Kirov.

Automatically Alerts Property Managers

Residents can now report uncleared roofs and yards by phone. The hotline number is designed to be easy to remember. Callers simply provide the address where the issue has emerged, and the automated assistant records the details. All information received is immediately forwarded to the property management company responsible for the building in question. The inspectorate then oversees how those reports are handled.

Officials stress that residents do not need to wait for a live operator. A conversation with the automated system is sufficient. The hotline is equipped with artificial intelligence that processes incoming messages independently. An inspector will contact the caller only if clarification is required.

Snow, Icicles and Graffiti

A similar system is operating in Moscow, where mobile monitoring units track snow and ice accumulation on rooftops. Vehicles equipped with smart cameras transmit data around the clock to municipal authorities and responsible organizations. In January alone, roughly 300 cases of heavy snow buildup on roofs were recorded, along with a similar number of incidents involving hazardous icicles. Cameras also monitor snow removal in courtyards and scan building facades for disfiguring graffiti.

Earlier, we reported that Kazan has begun testing ground-based snow-clearing drones, with the robots already showing strong early results.
