MegaFon and the government of the Arkhangelsk Region have agreed to accelerate the development of telecommunications infrastructure across the region. The agreement runs through the end of 2027 and is aimed at providing reliable connectivity to remote communities. To achieve that goal, the operator plans to deploy a network of compact base stations.

Road infrastructure is also included in the project. Along the M8 highway, the region's main transportation corridor, MegaFon plans to expand LTE coverage through the launch of more than a dozen new telecommunications sites.

"Today, more than 500 of our base stations operate across Pomorye, providing connectivity to 989,000 residents and more than 700,000 tourists. Our partnership with the regional government will allow us to align our investments with the region's priorities and make high-quality communications services more accessible, including in remote communities," MegaFon CEO Khachatur Pombukhchan said.

The agreement also provides for joint efforts to strengthen information security.
