More Than 51,000 Electricity Meters to Be Replaced in Russia's Vologda Region
Severnaya Sbytovaya Kompaniya plans to replace more than 51,000 outdated electricity meters in apartment buildings across the Vologda Region with modern smart meters by the end of 2026.

Most of the work will be carried out in Vologda and Cherepovets. The program covers about 400 apartment buildings, where new meters will be installed throughout each building, allowing them to be connected immediately to the smart metering system.
In the first half of 2026, specialists installed 8,755 individual smart meters and 508 building-wide smart meters. Since the introduction of mandatory smart metering requirements, more than 73,300 individual meters and 2,700 building-wide meters have been installed across the region.
Smart meters automatically transmit electricity consumption data, eliminating the need for residents to submit monthly readings. They also detect excessive electrical loads and attempts to interfere with the operation of the meter.
