Moscow Expands Its Digital Ecosystem for Schoolchildren

The capital integrates education and financial services in a single app, creating a seamless experience for families.

Families in Moscow have gained a new digital convenience — the Moscow Electronic School (MES) app now allows parents to pay school-related bills directly within the platform. The city’s Department of Education and Science announced that the feature is available in the latest version of the mobile application.

Now, all invoices are visible in one place. Parents can pay for extra classes, top up their child’s “Moskvyonok” card for cafeteria meals, and immediately receive electronic receipts. Each transaction is automatically stored in the user’s personal account.

To use the update, parents must install the latest version of the app and make sure that all linked documents — including passports, birth certificates, and social insurance numbers — are up to date.

This feature completes the creation of a comprehensive digital education environment in the capital. Over the years, the MES platform has evolved from a simple electronic gradebook into a multifunctional ecosystem that integrates schedules, homework assignments, lesson materials, and assessment results. Parents can track their child’s progress, view teachers’ comments, and communicate with educators through a built-in messenger. Now, with the addition of a full-fledged financial module, Moscow’s educational system has reached a new level of digital maturity, offering a truly frictionless experience for millions of families.
