A new urban data center combines autonomous power, high‑density compute infrastructure, and an innovative heat‑recovery system that channels excess server heat into building heating

A Hybrid Online–Offline Hub

The newly commissioned IXcellerate MOS3 data center in northeastern Moscow expands the city’s digital backbone, supporting domestic businesses and high‑demand online services. The facility integrates dedicated server halls with office space and conference rooms, forming a combined technical and administrative complex. An autonomous power system ensures 24/7 operational stability and uninterrupted compute availability.

City officials emphasize that modern data centers underpin Moscow’s digital economy by enabling large‑scale data storage, processing, and secure transport. MOS3 is engineered for cloud platforms, high‑performance computing, and mission‑critical IT workloads — including financial and enterprise systems.

Waste Heat Becomes a Resource

Moscow’s Minister of Government, Vladislav Ovchinsky, highlighted the facility as an example of how industrial sites can be transformed into advanced technological infrastructure. The data center uses heat‑pump systems to capture and repurpose excess server heat, routing it to warm administrative areas.

“The solution is both logical and unconventional. It reduces the load on municipal heating networks and lowers the carbon footprint,” he noted.

The expansion of the city’s data‑center network strengthens resilience and security for municipal digital services. Developed by IXcellerate, the project aligns with Moscow’s long‑term strategy for scalable, modern IT infrastructure.
