Buryatia has joined Moscow’s MosMedII (Moscow Medical AI) digital platform in a pilot mode, becoming the 74th region of Russia to connect to the system.

The AI platform assists physicians in analyzing mammography, fluorography, chest X-rays, brain CT scans, and chest CT images. The total number of studies processed has exceeded 10 million. The algorithms undergo regular quality monitoring.

As Deputy Mayor for Social Development Anastasia Rakova noted, Moscow was the first city in the world to launch an experiment introducing computer vision into radiology. Since then, more than 200 algorithms have been tested and new diagnostic methodologies developed.

Digital Expansion

The deputy mayor added that artificial intelligence helps doctors detect pathologies in a timely manner. In total, 60 services have been tested in Moscow, and organizations across the country are already using 17 of them.

One of the latest developments is an AI service that automatically detects osteoporosis at early stages. The neural network analyzes CT scans conducted for other clinical indications and identifies signs of the disease.

The algorithms highlight potentially problematic areas of bone tissue in red or orange. This not only helps detect the condition more quickly, but also reduces radiation exposure by eliminating the need for a separate examination.
