Most Russians Want Extra Pay for AI Skills

A new survey shows that 61 percent of Russians believe they should earn more for being able to use AI tools, as artificial intelligence becomes a new workplace standard.

According to a study by hh.ru, 61 percent of Russians say they should receive additional pay for knowing how to use neural networks. About a third (34 percent) believe salaries should not depend on AI skills, while 5 percent think pay should decrease, since algorithms now perform part of the work.

Younger professionals are more likely to support extra pay for AI skills, while older employees tend to value overall productivity more. Experts agree that job seekers have a point: proficiency in artificial intelligence is quickly becoming a professsional standard, and asking for higher compensation for that expertise makes sense.

Demand for workers who can apply AI in their jobs continues to rise. According to Avito Rabota analysts, the number of job postings requiring AI knowledge increased by 66 percent over the summer of 2025. AI proficiency is especially sought after in finance, marketing, advertising, public relations, and the IT sector.
