Neural Network in Russia Is Set to Help Tune 5G Base Stations

The AI system analyzes device characteristics and automatically selects optimal parameters.

Kryptonite, a company within X Holding, has automated the tuning of key microwave components used in 5G base stations and network repeaters, the company said in a statement.

The new method relies on artificial intelligence. The technology enables automatic configuration of complex components in telecom base stations and transmitters designed for next-generation networks.

The development is expected to make the manufacturing process for fifth-generation network equipment faster and simpler—an especially important factor for large cities.

Parameter Selection and Error Reduction

As the company explained, one of the main challenges in building next-generation mobile networks is the precise tuning of every individual element of a base station.

The neural network used in the new method addresses this issue directly. The AI studies the characteristics of each device and automatically selects the required configuration settings.

An additional algorithm further reduces the risk of errors by sequentially verifying and applying the neural network’s recommendations.

The new method has already been tested under real operating conditions and is ready for large-scale deployment.
