New AI Assistant Aims to Help Russians Spend Smarter and Make Better Financial Decisions

Russian technology company T-Technologies, which develops digital services for consumers and businesses, has introduced an AI assistant called Taya.

The company expects the digital assistant to help users navigate everyday financial decisions. For example, it can compare financial products or consumer goods and recommend the option best suited to a user's needs. The official launch is scheduled for this fall, while a beta version is already available for early testing.

Answer Quality Is Protected by a Built-In Validation System

The digital assistant is built as a platform with specialized vertical skills layered on top of a general-purpose AI foundation. The universal layer is supplemented by domain-specific capabilities in areas where T-Technologies has proprietary expertise and data, including product discovery and shopping assistance. Taya is powered by the company's Gen-T family of large language models, with some user requests handled by large models that have been fine-tuned on T-Technologies' proprietary datasets and others routed to specialized models optimized for individual tasks.

According to the company, Taya was designed to remain objective and act solely in the user's interests. To support that goal, the developers built a quality-control system in which answer quality serves as the primary evaluation metric. In scenarios where AI hallucinations pose a risk, responses are generated using verified sources and automatically validated before being presented to the user. Those sources are cited directly in each response so users can verify the information independently. While hallucinations cannot be eliminated entirely, the company says this architecture minimizes the risk and helps identify errors before they affect users.

Taya Will Evaluate a User's Financial Situation

According to the developers, Taya will not be limited to the T-Bank ecosystem. If it determines that a better option exists elsewhere, it will recommend it. For example, if the assistant finds a product available at a lower price on Ozon, it will provide a link to that offer. The same principle applies to financial products from competing banks, which the assistant will also recommend when they better match a user's needs. The developers believe that maintaining this level of neutrality will help build long-term customer trust while strengthening the bank's competitive position. Looking ahead, the company plans to expand Taya's capabilities so that recommendations for major purchases and spending decisions take into account a user's income, savings, and existing debt obligations. T-Technologies also intends to make the assistant multimodal by adding voice interaction, image understanding, document reading, and link analysis.

A Financial Advisor That Takes Over Routine Decisions

Consumers are increasingly turning to AI assistants to simplify everyday tasks. Financial assistants are attracting particular interest because choosing the most advantageous mortgage, loan, or other financial product from hundreds of competing offers can be difficult. A specialized AI assistant can make those decisions easier, especially if it takes into account an individual's income, spending patterns, and debt burden. However, experts stress that maintaining neutrality and independence from the developer's commercial interests is essential.

The introduction of Taya illustrates how Russia's IT sector is moving beyond conventional banking chatbots toward personal AI agents capable of analyzing information from multiple sources and supporting users in making informed decisions. Over the longer term, successful deployment within Russia will depend on integration with banks, marketplaces, and open API ecosystems that allow services to exchange data.

The project also has export potential, although entering international markets will require adapting the assistant to each country's financial regulations, banking infrastructure, and language. That said, individual technologies developed for Taya, including recommendation models, financial query processing, document analysis, and the underlying AI agent architecture, could be offered as standalone software components to banks and fintech companies in partner countries.

Every marketplace, every bank, and almost every business earns money from the customer in one way or another. That creates incentives to manipulate search results or product recommendations to maximize click-through rates and purchases on their own platforms. But that does not maximize value for the customer or fully address their needs. We want to change those rules of the game for everyone, including ourselves
