New Version of Termidesk Connect Load Balancer Released
The software platform expands capabilities for managing distributed infrastructure and improves service continuity.
Following the departure of Western vendors from the Russian market, developing domestic alternatives to application delivery controller (ADC) products became a priority for Russia’s technology substitution effort. Put simply, ADCs are load balancers – software that acts as a “smart” intermediary between users and application servers. Their primary job is to optimize application delivery, maintaining high availability, performance and security through intelligent traffic management. The telecom industry and data centers, in particular, cannot operate effectively without them. Russian developers have made significant progress in this area.
Global Load Balancing
Uveon-Cloud Technologies recently released a new version of its Termidesk Connect 1.4 load balancer. The software platform expands capabilities for managing distributed infrastructure and improves service continuity.
The new version includes a significant overhaul of its security functionality. The upgraded GSLB module expands the product’s capabilities in complex network topologies. Administrators can now manually edit DNS zones, while the number of supported DNS record types has increased and GeoIP database handling has been improved. Together, these changes give administrators more options for distributing requests among servers.
“Termidesk Connect 1.4 introduces a consistent hashing algorithm for application-layer load balancing. The new functionality includes five algorithm modes and is intended for scenarios where predictable request distribution among servers needs to be maintained. When the composition of a pool changes, for example when a node is added, disabled or restored, consistent hashing minimizes the redistribution of requests,” the developers explained.
High Availability Takes Priority
Functionality for high-availability infrastructure, or an HA cluster, is also particularly important. The software platform synchronizes operations between nodes to maintain service continuity. During scheduled upgrades, sessions are preserved and transferred between nodes, so users do not have to reconnect to applications.
These are only some of the updates. Overall, the platform makes day-to-day administration more convenient, adds tools for network integration and offers more flexible service availability checks.
A Critical Tool
Developing domestic load balancers reduces dependence on foreign technology providers. That matters both to the telecom industry and to everyone relying on its services, including banks, online retailers, logistics companies and many other businesses. Meanwhile, the technology is evolving at an impressive pace. Russian ADC products are no longer simply substitutes for imported software. They are becoming versatile tools with increasingly broad feature sets.
Rapid Evolution
The pace of Russian development becomes clear from the evolution of Termidesk Connect itself. Its first version appeared in 2025. The product launched in March, and its first major update followed in September. The developer strengthened security and high-availability features, adding role-based access control, LDAP/LDAPS, expanded monitoring and new HA-cluster capabilities.
Termidesk Connect 1.2 reached the market in December. Its load-balancing subsystem received substantial improvements, including additional request-distribution algorithms, prioritization of servers with different capacities and more precise mechanisms for checking their availability. Version 1.3, released in April this year, focused on improving operations with high-availability infrastructure.
That said, Uveon-Cloud Technologies is not the only company developing load balancers in Russia. One of the first Russian ADC products was TrafficSoft ADC, released in 2024. It was explicitly positioned as a replacement for foreign software products.
Thus, this is no longer simply a matter of technology substitution in one of the Russian IT market’s critical segments. A full-fledged competitive market is beginning to emerge, with developers competing for customers by offering an expanding range of new features.
