Novosibirsk Launches Competence Center for Systems Programming
Postgres Professional, Russia’s leading database developer, has opened a new center in Akademgorodok to boost cybersecurity and accelerate the transition of government and business to domestic software.
A new Competence Center for systems programming has opened in Novosibirsk’s Akademgorodok. The initiative comes from Postgres Professional, Russia’s top developer of database management systems and a member of the Software Developers Association (ARPP “Domestic Software”). The company’s products are listed in the Unified Register of Russian Software and are widely used in government, banking, and telecom sectors to replace foreign IT solutions.
The center’s main goal is to strengthen Siberia’s IT ecosystem. It will train high-level specialists in cybersecurity and data management—addressing one of today’s most urgent challenges: ensuring technological sovereignty and protecting digital infrastructure.
One of its first steps was signing a partnership agreement with the Siberian State University of Telecommunications and Information Science. Postgres Professional has also long collaborated with Novosibirsk State University, underscoring its focus on developing the next generation of IT talent directly in the region.
The opening of the center marks a strategic move for the entire Russian IT industry, positioning Siberia as a powerful hub for secure software development.
