Putin Calls for Scaling Up Efforts to Build a Russian Microelectronics Platform
The Russian president said the development of digital technologies is directly tied to the creation of domestic integrated systems and an electronic component base.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed officials to set up an interagency commission to oversee the development of domestic electronics. He made the remarks at a meeting with the heads of relevant government bodies, stressing that the advancement of digital technologies is impossible without a domestic electronic component base and modern integrated systems.
Scientific Capacity and Infrastructure
He added that Russia has already built a foundation in this area, with a strong scientific school in place, as well as established testing and production of electronic products. Last year, a photonics center was launched that will manufacture integrated circuits designed for high-speed data transmission.
The interagency commission, he added, should ensure “ultra-fast consideration of all issues and decision-making in this area.”
