The AtomMash plant is implementing more than 20 digital projects aimed at automating production processes and reducing physical labor. Company officials say the shift is opening the door for women to enter high-tech professions. They are learning to operate computer numerical control lathes and mastering advanced welding technologies. Women now make up a quarter of the plant’s workforce.

“Their professionalism, responsibility, and innovative mindset allow us to move forward confidently not only in traditional areas such as culture, education, and family care, but also in advanced sectors like industry, high technology, and business,” said Maxim Zhidkov, head of the AtomMash plant. “We are proud of our female employees, because their efforts make our enterprise stronger and more competitive.”

Automating Production Processes

AtomMash builds nuclear reactors and steam generators for nuclear power plants. The facility is actively introducing technologies that incorporate elements of artificial intelligence and robotics. These include remote quality control and ultrasonic diagnostics of welded joints, performed by smart robots operated by female inspection specialists. The plant has also launched a digital service that allows employees to submit proposals for production improvements.

Recently, AtomMash began using a robot to inspect weld seams in nuclear reactors. The robot can reach hard-to-access areas and assess weld quality using an ultrasonic transducer.
