Rosatom Delivers Control System Components for Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant Units in India
The shipment included 300 equipment units.

JSC Rosatom Automated Control Systems has completed the delivery of components for the hardware and software systems used in the safety control systems of Units 3 and 4 at India’s Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant. A total of 300 equipment units were shipped to the site. To prevent both systems from failing at the same time, they are physically separated, housed in different rooms and powered by generators.
In developing the new systems, engineers drew on experience gained from operating the plant’s first two units and incorporated design improvements. One example is the use of non-programmable modules that process sensor signals without microprocessors. This approach reduces the system’s reliance on application software and improves its resilience to failures.
The delivery of the safety control system hardware and software packages marks another milestone in the project to equip the plant’s units with Russian automation, monitoring and safety systems. The equipment is scheduled to be installed next.
