Russia plans to complete the digital transformation of its energy industry by 2035, according to Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, who spoke at the Russian Energy Week forum in Moscow. Novak said the country has already achieved about 40% of its digitalization goals.

“Our task is to transition to a fully digital model of the energy sector by 2035,” Novak said. “This includes automation, robotics, and the implementation of digital twins and smart platforms.”

A Unified Digital Energy Ecosystem

Novak emphasized that a single digital ecosystem will streamline operations and improve the stability of Russia’s energy system. “It will make our energy sector more resilient and ensure we can achieve the strategic goals we’ve set,” he added.

The announcement aligns with broader initiatives in the industry. Earlier this week, Rosseti, one of the world’s largest power grid companies, proposed the creation of a shared innovation platform for the country’s entire fuel and energy complex.

The Russian Energy Week forum, running in Moscow from October 15–17, focuses this year on the theme “Creating the Energy of the Future Together.”
