Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU NETI) and Wuxi University have opened a joint institute in China to train specialists in advanced information technologies.

The educational center operates at Wuxi University in Jiangsu Province. It offers three undergraduate programs — Software Engineering, Information Systems and Technologies, and Computer Science and Engineering — all taught in English. Over 40% of the courses are delivered by faculty from the Russian university, and graduates will receive diplomas from both institutions. In the first year, 224 Chinese students were admitted to the program on a government-funded basis. The project is designed for ten graduating classes over a 15-year period.

According to Sergey Chernov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at NSTU NETI, the 2025 admission campaign resulted in the number of Chinese students enrolled at NSTU increasing nearly fivefold, largely due to joint educational programs with several Chinese universities, most notably Wuxi University.

The initiative reflects the growing global demand for Russian expertise in engineering education and highlights the country’s expanding role in international academic collaboration.
