Russia Approves Five National Standards for Digital Freight Transportation
Russia's Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart) has approved five national standards that establish the regulatory foundation for digital container logistics and the integration of seaports, cargo terminals, and land transportation into a unified information environment. The standards were developed for GosLog, Russia's national digital logistics platform.
Work on the standards began in 2024. Together, they define a transition from isolated automation projects to integrated transport and logistics frameworks spanning digital ports, logistics terminals, and overland freight operations. Some of the standards establish principles for designing multimodal transportation systems, while others focus on digital ports and terminal operating systems.
The new standards are expected to support the development of digital shipment passports, cargo traceability systems, and route optimization services within the GosLog platform.
According to Shalaev, the new standards lay the groundwork for a unified digital environment across Russia's transportation sector while improving interoperability between technology platforms.
