Russia Automates Tax Deductions Through Mobile App
A new digital service now lets Russian citizens claim social tax deductions for healthcare, education, and sports directly through a mobile app, eliminating paperwork entirely.
Russia has launched a unified platform for automatic processing of social tax deductions. Developed by Sber with support from the Federal Tax Service (FNS), the service allows users to claim deductions for medical, educational, and sports expenses through the SberBank Online app. The entire process is digital, eliminating the need to collect certificates, file a 3-NDFL tax return, or visit tax offices.
The service is also available to businesses. More than 150,000 Russian companies in the healthcare, education, and sports sectors can now connect to the platform via the SberBusiness online bank. For them, it simplifies paperwork, spreading the workload across the year instead of concentrating it in the first quarter.
Automation makes tax benefits truly accessible. Citizens are more actively exercising their legal right to reclaim part of their expenses, boosting household financial security. For the broader economy, the move promotes fiscal literacy and reduces administrative burdens on business.
