Russia Builds Digital Twin of Giant Oil Pumping Station

Rosneft has created a digital twin of Russia’s largest oil pumping station, a facility spanning more than 100 football fields and moving 99 million tons of crude annually. The 3D model integrates data from every building, structure, and piece of equipment on site.

The new virtual model covers 480 buildings, housing 75,000 units of technological equipment and 280,000 construction elements. By digitizing the entire complex, Rosneft demonstrated its position as a global leader in information modeling.

The model was recently presented at the national competition “TIM-Leaders 2024/25,” where company experts highlighted that the system was developed entirely on domestic software platforms.

Information models like this are not only effective during operations but also during the design and construction phases. Digital twins help minimize errors during installation and construction, while later enabling detailed planning of maintenance and analysis of all data within a single platform.
